Low Calorie Diet
If you want to lose 10 or more pounds, our Low Calorie Diet will help you reach your weight-loss goal. Typically, you should lose about 2 pounds the first week. After that, you can expect to lose 1 to 2 pounds per week.
Our Low Calorie Diet includes 1,000 calories a day for women and 1,200 calories a day for men. You can eat a combination of meal replacements and meals or only meals while on the low calorie diet.
You start with a medical exam by Dr. Troy Schuman or Dr. Lori Catanzaro. Once you’ve been medically cleared to begin, you’ll attend orientation and start weekly visits, during which you alternate between seeing one of our registered dietitians and attending group education classes. You’ll receive a behavioral health assessment and attend regular appointments with your bariatric doctor.
Very Low Calorie Diet
The Very Low Calorie Diet could be for you if you have:
- At least 40 pounds to lose.
- A body mass index or BMI greater than 30.
- Health risks, like diabetes or high blood pressure, which could be improved by weight loss.
The Very Low Calorie Diet includes 1,000 calories a day for men and 800 calories a day for women. At first, you will use a meal replacement for all your meals. You can expect to lose about 4 to 7 pounds the first week. After that, you should continue to lose an average 2 to 3 pounds a week.
To begin on the Very Low Calorie Diet program, you’ll be examined by Dr. Troy Schuman or Dr. Lori Catanzaro. This exam includes an EKG with additional EKGs needed for every 50 pounds you lose.
Once you are medically cleared to begin, you’ll attend one-on-one orientation with a registered nurse and receive a behavioral health assessment. You’ll meet weekly with a registered nurse and monthly with your bariatric doctor. Once you are within 5 to 15 pounds of your goal weight, you will meet regularly with a registered dietitian and attend weekly classes. Doctor visits will be less frequent as you continue.
