These resources are great for answering your general questions. If you have a concern about your child's health or your child is sick or injured, contact his or her pediatric healthcare provider immediately. Well-Child Checkups We follow the general guidelines set by the American Academy of Pediatrics for well-child checkups. Plan your visits based on these guidelines: Your child's first visit with a pediatrician should happen when he or she is 3 to 5 days old. He or she should see a pediatric provider at 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18 months old. Your child should continue to see a pediatric provider yearly starting at 2 years old.
