Alcohol & Drug Counselor/Social Worker Minimum Education Necessary for Position: Master’s degree in Psychology, Social work, or Counseling Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Outpatient Chemical Dependency Treatment Facility Preferably 3-5 years of experience Skills and Knowledge: Psychiatry/Chemical Dependency background with counseling skills in assessment, individual/family/marital and group therapy (IOP and COR-12). Competency in DSM-IV/ ICD-10 diagnosis. Competency in CPT terminology and coding. Identifies in-patient and out-patient treatment, medication assisted detox and community based resources which will meet patient/family needs and provides referrals and advocacy in obtaining services. Maintains active interaction with the patient/family throughout the treatment/discharge planning process in efforts to keep them apprised of on-going treatment plan discharge planning activities. Conducts individual, family, and group counseling/education (IOP and COR-12), utilizing theoretical knowledge of psychopathology and evidenced based intervention techniques consistent with levels of competency and licensure/certification.
