Q: Tell us about your primary care experience at St. Elizabeth Physicians.

Pennie sees Dr. William Threlkeld at the Williamstown Primary Care location for her primary care needs. “He’s our family doctor and we consider him our friend, too,” she said. “If I’m not feeling well, I can see him that day.”

Q: Why did you choose St. Elizabeth for primary care?

St. Elizabeth has always been Pennie’s choice for healthcare. “From the moment I was born, St. Elizabeth has been there for me,” she says. Her loyalty also stems from their commitment to her community. “They are invested in my community, which is very important to me.”

Pennie also trusts her care team because they value her time and busy schedule. “I’m a busy woman,” Pennie says. Staying healthy is non-negotiable. “I don’t have time not to feel well. So, I greatly appreciate and value that I can see a provider on the same day when I’m under the weather.”

Q: What are you most thankful for about your primary care experience?

Pennie appreciates the personal attention and knowing she can count on her provider to keep her well. “I’m grateful they’ve been there for me and with me through so many stages of my life. Knowing that I will get the best care gives me such a sense of comfort and peace.”

She also says that she’s thankful for their professionalism. In addition to being expert healthcare providers, they never forget that their patients are humans and they show them compassion and empathy. Pennie expressed that
St. Elizabeth primary care providers value each patient as an individual and take the time to walk side-by-side with them through life’s journey – the good and the challenging. “I’m thankful that somebody is there for me when I need it,” she says. “Especially when I’ve been scared or felt alone.”

Q: What is the most memorable part of your primary care experience that you’d want others to know?

Pennie finds a sense of security and familiarity with St. Elizabeth. It’s been a part of her life for generations. “I was born there; my children were also born there and even my grandchildren,” she says. “There’s nowhere else I’d consider for healthcare. My trust in them extends to my entire family and loved ones.”

Q: Do you have any advice for others seeking a primary care provider?

Pennie provides a helpful reminder that everyone should have a primary care provider. Not just for situations when a health concern surfaces but also to help patients take charge of their overall health and well-being to reduce the risk of developing chronic health conditions.

To this end, Pennie appreciates that Dr. Threlkeld helps her prioritize her preventive screenings and specialty care needs. “He always encourages me to take better care of myself,” Pennie said. “He reminds me when it’s time for my mammogram and colonoscopy and connects me to specialists when needed. Anytime I call, he answers.”
