Cindy’s Primary Care Story

Rounding with Patients: Cindy’s Story – St. Elizabeth Physicians Primary Care

Reliable and trustworthy primary care is the foundation for good health. For Cindy, a long-time St. Elizabeth Physicians primary care patient, trust, collaboration and meaningful conversations are the building blocks of her relationship with her provider.

Q: Tell us about your primary care experience at St. Elizabeth Physicians.

“I see Dr. William Threlkeld at the Williamstown Primary Care location,” said Cindy. “He is an amazing doctor who takes the time to listen to my concerns and answer my questions. And he looks at every aspect of my health – not just one symptom, but he takes a holistic approach.”

“I feel like St. Elizabeth puts the patient first,” she adds. “They care about your outcomes.”

Q: Why did you choose St. Elizabeth for primary care?

Cindy explains that she and her family have been St. Elizabeth Healthcare patients for nearly four decades. “My experience with St. Elizabeth Physicians began when my daughter was born there,” she says. “We’re originally from Dayton, Ohio. When we moved to Kentucky, we made St. Elizabeth our healthcare home.”

Q: What are you most thankful for about your primary care experience?

Cindy is grateful for the personalized and compassionate care she can count on. “When I send messages to my doctor, he answers promptly,” she said. “It means a lot that he cares enough to take time to call back personally. I feel like I can reach out and get answers, which makes me trust that he really cares.”

Cindy also explained how thankful she was for Dr. Threlkeld’s close connection with specialty care providers in the area. “I had a medical problem that no one could put their finger on, but Dr. Threlkeld had an idea of what it could be,” she says. “So, he helped me connect with the specialists that were then able to diagnose and treat me.”

Q: What is the most memorable part of your primary care experience that you’d want others to know?

Beyond counting Dr. Threlkeld as her expert, trusted primary care doctor, Cindy also counts him as a friend. Cindy appreciates that she never feels rushed during her primary care visits. He always takes enough time to diagnose what’s going on with her and be proactive about her overall health.

“Dr. Threlkeld takes the time during my appointments to look at all aspects of what’s going on with me – not just any current symptom, but he digs deep to determine the cause of my symptoms,” Cindy explains.

Cindy also mentions that she is continuously pleased with the primary care virtual visits. Like many people, when virtual visits became a part of care delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic, she worried they would feel impersonal.

“They’re very convenient,” she says. “Sometimes, if I’m at work and have an issue, I can take my break, go out in the lobby, dial him up, meet him on a call and tell him what’s going on.” Since she has a busy schedule, she appreciates the convenience of virtual visits and how she can seamlessly connect with her primary care doctor for a minor concern.

Q: Do you have any advice for others seeking a primary care provider?

Cindy encourages others to establish a relationship with a primary care provider. “It’s important to have that connection and relationship in place in case an unexpected medical issue arises,” she said. “Whether you’re managing a health condition, want to stay on top of your preventive services or plan for your future health goals, a primary care provider can offer you the right care at every stage of life.”
